NEET PG 2025

22 Days to Go of NEET PG 2025: The Art of ‘Hanging In There’ By Dr. Praveen Tripathi

Hello guys, how are you doing? Not so great, I believe. There are 22 days to go, and the pressure must be building up. So, let’s have a brief conversation about these 22 days.

When we talk about the entrance examination, what we see is that two kinds of qualities help you crack any entrance examination. The first quality, and this is, you know, carried by a small number of students, is having a great memory, great rote memory. Some people can, you know, first of all, read very fast, and secondly, whatever they read once just goes and stays inside their head.

I used to have a friend in college, and he was my best friend, and he was just amazing. He was so intelligent, he would read anything once, and he would be able to reproduce it verbatim. And there are certain other people with that quality that I’ve seen. I’m sure the toppers of your class, some of your batchmates, must have this quality as well. The problem with this quality is majority of us do not possess it. That is, I don’t have it.

Most likely, you don’t have it. So that’s a genetic lottery. Some of us are just born with it.

But then there’s another category of students, and there’s another quality that these students possess, which helps them a lot in cracking such tough exams. That quality is perseverance. Just hanging in there.

These students or this quality ensures that no matter what happens, you show up every day. There’s a saying that never bet against a person who shows up every day. Have you ever thought why I keep saying that, take it to the last day, take it to the last day. When I say take it to the last day no matter what, basically I’m telling you that be perseverant. No matter what happens, you have to hang in there. You got a bad GT score, you’re feeling sad, you cried a little bit, okay.

The next morning again do the same thing again. Again, open your books, open the videos, open the notes. You started with the subject, you thought you would be revising it and when you open the notes, you realize that half of it is gone. You have forgotten half the stuff. Again, you’re feeling very overwhelmed. What do you do? Nothing.

Just continue with the plan. You and a friend of yours were studying together. You put in even more effort than that friend, but when the test results came, he did better than you.

You felt very bad, and even felt a bit envious or jealous. What do you do? Nothing. Show up again the next day.

Showing up the next day, showing up repeatedly, continuing with the same efforts repeatedly despite having small setbacks, is what perseverance is, and it takes you very far in life. People who have great memories always have an edge in the entrance examination. More so in entrance examinations like ours, the medical entrance examination. But the moment you enter the real world, the clinical world, that capability of great memory doesn’t serve you anymore. But people who have the gift of perseverance are always in an advantageous position. Anything difficult in life, it’s not, you know, it doesn’t happen so easily.

That is why it’s difficult. It doesn’t happen so easily. That is why it is difficult, and because it is difficult, you need to have a persistent effort, and here the rule of ensuring that you continue to play the game despite being, you know, hit multiple times comes in handy. So hanging in there, showing up every day, taking it to the end. These things matter a lot.

So today, 22 days away from the exam, whenever you have doubts, whenever you feel overwhelmed, whenever you feel stressed, whenever you give a bad test, whenever your score doesn’t come good in the mock exam, what do you do? You tell yourself that this is a setback, but I will show up again, and that is how you beat the odds.

That is how you best the problems and emerge victorious on the other end. Keep pushing, keep pushing. One step at a time, one day at a time. It does not have to be a spectacular success, and in the real world, you know, suddenly something great doesn’t happen. Small efforts, day in and day out, take you towards the finishing line and then help you cross it. So that’s all you have to do.

There is no big strategy. There is no big plan. There is no hidden plan. There is no strategy. There is no magic formula here. It is just the same, plain, old, rigorous work over and over again. Keep doing it. Keep doing it. It will happen.

All the best. May God bless you all and take it to the last day.
