Interestingly, despite today’s video-based learning trend, Dr. Thrisha relied heavily on GRG Sir’s Pharmacology textbook during her MBBS and continued using the same for INICET.
She explained:
- Her MBBS pharmacology base was built entirely using GRG Sir’s book.
- She didn’t want to start from scratch with a new resource.
- She preferred strengthening what she already knew well.
This highlights an important lesson: stick to what builds your concepts strongly.
How MBBS Foundations Shape Entrance Prep
When asked about the role of MBBS in PG entrance success, she emphasised:
“The entire concept base comes from MBBS itself — clinical postings, classes, and prof preparation.”
While MCQ solving requires a different approach, the core understanding begins much earlier.
When She Actually Started Preparing for INICET
A surprising yet motivating revelation:
She began serious entrance-focused preparation only in February of this year.
This serves as a reassurance for many students — you don’t always need years of preparation; you need focused preparation.
Notes vs Questions — What Truly Matters?
A common dilemma among aspirants: Should you revise notes repeatedly or solve a large number of questions?
Here’s Dr. Thrisha’s clear formula:
- Revision is number one. Without it, the first reading is useless.
- Gradually increase the number of questions.
- Integrate questions into revision.
Simple, practical, and effective.
Her Grand Test Strategy
Between February and September, she attempted only 3–4 GTs just to check her standing.
Her real GT phase began from late September and throughout October, where she:
- Took GTs every alternate day
- Completed at least 3 GTs per week
- Analysed mistakes to understand weak areas
GTs helped her assess:
- Which subjects did she need to improve
- What topics had she forgotten
- What needed immediate revision
